On December 6, 2003 Jacob woke up with what looked like a swollen left eye (we thought nothing of this as he had fallen on his train set the previous day). By supper time that night we noticed that his pupils were uneven (the left was considerably smaller than the right) we took him to the emergency department in Sudbury, where we were eventually referred to a Pediatrician and an MRI was done three days later. Unfortunatly an IV could not be started and we would have to return two days later to have a second MRI done. An IV was eventually started in Jacobs head and the contrast solution could be injected and would soon show the enormous size of his tumor. Once the MRI was complete we were on our way to CHEO (Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario) via Air Ambulance. We arrived at CHEO on December 12 and were welcomed by the wonderful team on 4 North.
